SikaReinforcer® An innovative product, SikaReinforcer® , was developed as a new reinforcing material to meet the demands of NVH, BSR, crash, impact, fatigue and/or durability applications. This thermoset, epoxy based material was developed to provide improved stiffness to hollow metal body structure sections. This product is injection moldable and non-tacky for ease of installation. Upon heating the material to OEM electrodeposition curing temperatures, the composition expands to form a lightweight product having high compressive strengths. A family of products has been developed to provide various volumetric expansion rates and compression strengths. Cavity reinforcement materials are used in the automotive industry to stiffen hollow cavities in vehicle body constructions. Typical areas of use include the engine rails, rocker panels, roof supports or any other cavity requiring additional structural reinforcement. Use of SikaReinforcer® can allow for significant reductions in vehicle weight and increase structural stiffness with minimal impact to production tooling. Through the use of the latest analytical modeling tools, performance of SikaReinforcer® parts can be demonstrated in vehicle models. Once the model has been correlated to experimental data, these models can be used to optimize the part.
